The Loremaster achievement is a great one, and if I had to do it again I’m certain that I would. With the introduction of transmogrification though, a downside has appeared. For those of us who long ago completed all (or practicly so) of the quests in game, all those quest reward items are now unobtainable.
So how about adding another perk to the achievement, a special vendor that unlocks allowing those with the achievement to go back and purchase, even at a much higher then value cost, the quest reward items.
This would help out those of us who enjoy both the story of the game revealed in doing Loremaster, and as well the ability to celebrate those memories of our exploits by transmogging.
Guild banks and personal inventory are now much larger item lists then what your average vendor sells. Blizzard’s solution to this could as well be applied to this quest reward vendor.
Give the vendor a dialog window with the NPC dialog text asking what you are looking for which the player then inputs into a search box just as we have for bags and banks.
This NPC essitially stocks every piece of quest rewarded gear in the game, but for each player who approaches not only is this inputed filter applied, but a query of the game’s database is made to see if said quest has been completed and if so, the NPC then can provide this piece of gear to you.
Glad to see as well that I’m not the only one who in some respects wishes I’d never done the Loremaster achievement. Read today from wowinsider, even their columnist Anne Stickney is facing the difficult storage position we’ve arived upon.
Blizzard’s mentioned to us that they’re looking for a NPC type distribution system for account bound items to be obtained instead of using the mail system, perhaps I’m ignorant of the technical details, but how much different would this NPC be?
